What is the roomsDB.net short-term section about?
On the roomsDB.net short-term section you can make confirmed bookings of rooms in private apartments! Instead of spending a lot of money for expensive hotels, you can find cozy accommodation in private Singaporean houses and apartments for a fraction of the price you would spend for a hotel room!
This service is just perfect for those who come to Singapore for a couple of days on a short-term basis or for those who are looking for vacation rentals in Singapore! Or perhaps you come to Singapore to work/study and need a place to stay for the first few days before you find a long-term accommodation. The roomsDB.net short-term section is for you!
How can I make a confirmed booking?
The first thing you have to do is to find a room that can accommodate you for the period of time that you are in Singapore. Go to our Book a Room page and enter your arrival day as well as the number of nights you intend to stay. Click on "Find Rooms Now". You will be presented with a list of rooms that are availabe during the period of time you stated. Click on "Book Now" or "read more" to learn more about the rooms that interest you. Now if you want to make your booking, click on the red button "Book Room Now". You will see a summary of the booking and you can confirm it by making a 10% downpayment using your paypal account/credit card.
Tell me more about the 10% downpayment and how it confirms my booking.
To make sure that you will really show up on the day of your booking, the room owners ask for a non-refundable downpayment of 10% of the rental price. Let's say the room price is 100 SG$ per night and you want to stay for 3 nights. The overall price will be 300 SG$. You will have to make a downpayment of 10% which is 30 SG$ to confirm and secure your booking. You pay the remaining 270 SG$ upon arrival and get the key for your room.
To make the 10% downpayment, you will be referred to paypal. After we received the downpayment, your booking is confirmed and we will send the booking confirmation to your email address. It contains all the information on how to get to your temporary accomodation as well as all contact information you need.
What are HDB flats and why can't I book them as a tourist?
HDB stands for Housing and Development Board, which is a Singaporean government agency that provides housing for most Singaporeans. For those HDB flats special rules and regulations apply. One of those rules is that HDB homeowners are just allowed to sublet their room to certain groups of permitted subtenants. Unfortunatley, tourists who come to Singapore do not belong to any of the groups permitted as subtenants. As a tourist, you can book any other room which is not located in an HDB flat.
